The most recent research confirms that the Mediterranean Diet, based on the consumption of olive oil, contributes to a healthy ageing process and increases longevity.

In the Mediterranean diet olive oil is one of its pillars, not only due to its sensorial characteristics and its good acceptation, but also due to its proven beneficial effects for the health. Olive oil also contains a great amount of vitamin E, of great antioxidant importance.

Olive oil reduces the level of bad cholesterol LDL and increases good cholesterol HDL.

Apart from that, it intervenes in the prevention of certain types of cancer such as prostate, breast and colon cancers.

A type of nutrition which uses olive oil as fat (in comparison to other types of animal fat or vegetable fat) prevents from the formation of lipids in the arteries; therefore it reduces the risk of suffering from cardiovascular diseases.
